Darum veranstaltet das Theater im Pfalzbau, erneut auf Initiative und unter der künstlerischen Leitung der Choreographin Juliane Rößler, nun den »3. Internationalen Choreographie-Wettbewerb Ludwigshafen 2008«. Das konzeptionelle Motto no ballet sowie das künstlerische Credo »reduce to the max« des Wettbewerbs sollen die Choreographen verleiten, ja, gestehen wir es ruhig ein, sie zwingen, sich in einer von Reizen überfluteten Welt auf das Wesentliche zu konzentrieren: Es geht um das Schaffen einer zeitgenössischen und vor allem unverwechselbaren eigenen Tanz- und Bewegungssprache – jenseits etablierter Tanztechniken und des herkömmlichen Bewegungsrepertoires, und ohne den Beistand aufwendiger Bühnenbilder, Requisiten, Kostüme und Lichteffekte. Aus einer Vielzahl internationaler Bewerbungen wird die Jury rund 20 Choreographen einladen, die mit eigenwilligen, herausfordernden und gegen den Strich gebürsteten Werken das Publikum überraschen und begeistern sollen. Die Choreographien werden, in zwei Gruppen aufgeteilt, am Donnerstag, den 1. und am Freitag, den 2. Mai 2008, öffentlich und in Anwesenheit der Jury, im Theater im Pfalzbau um 19.30 Uhr präsentiert. Das Finale mit den jeweils vier besten Choreographien der beiden Vorabende sowie die anschließende Prämierung der Preisträger finden am Samstag, den 3. Mai 2008 um 19.30 Uhr statt. Insgesamt werden Preise im Wert von 16.000 Euro vergeben.

Wir freuen uns auf ungewöhnliche, schräge, experimentelle, verstörende, komische, politische, aufrüttelnde, seltsame, erotische, phantasievolle, berührende, lebendige und aktuelle Choreographien. Tanztheater am Puls und im Rhythmus unserer Zeit.

In the last two years no ballet has established itself as a renowned player on the international dance scene – the proof: more than 600 applications from over 40 nations. The selected 100-plus dancers and choreographers enchanted the audience, the jury and the media with their passion, hard work and enthusiasm. The result was three exciting days in the Theater Pfalzbau.- modern dance of the highest level! Therefore the Theater Pfalzbau Ludwigshafen will stage, from the 1st to the 3rd of May 2008, the 3rd International Choreography Competition no ballet. Once again, the event is initiated by and under the artisticdirection of the choreographer Juliane Rößler. Choreographers will have a chance to prove, in front of an enthusiastic audience, whether their new productions work well on stage. We hope the environment will be simultaneously competitive and inspiring for the participating choreographers and groups.  

The jury will select circa 20 choreographers from all the international applications. They will choose groups who can surprise and please the audience with daring, intelligent and humorous productions. The choreographies, divided in two groups of ten, have to be presented on Thursday the 1st and Friday the 2nd of May 2008 in front of the jury and audience in the Theater im Pfalzbau Ludwigshafen at 7.30 pm. The finale, consisting of the best 4 productions from each day, and the announcement of the winning companies, will be on Saturday the 3rd of May 2008 at 7.30 pm. Prizes to a total value of Euro 16,000 will be awarded. 

We are looking forward to watching idiosyncratic, off-beat, experimental, disturbing, comical, political, peculiar, erotic, fantastic, moving, lively and contemporary productions.
