März 2007, Theater im Pfalzbau – die Luft steht, die Menge im ausverkauften Saal tobt, ohrenbetäubender Beifall – in Ludwigshafen findet zum ersten Mal der Internationale Streetdance&HipHop-Contest +phat_skillz//dance statt. Unvergessen für Künstler, Zuschauer, Juroren und Gäste: Nicht nur der Wettbewerb, sondern auch die gemeinsame Abschlussparty mit den Tänzern des parallel laufenden Modern-Dance Choreographie-Wettbewerbes, bei der alle Grenzen zwischen Tanzstilen, Kulturen, Alter, Herkunft oder Nationalitäten durch die gemeinsame »Welt-Sprache« Tanz wie weggewischt waren: eine Ost-West-Nord-Süd-Welt-Tanz-Fete der besonderen Art! Gründe genug, in die zweite Runde zu starten. Am 3. Mai 2008 findet im Theater im Pfalzbau nun also zum 2.Mal ein internationaler Streedance&HipHop Wettbewerb statt und wir wollen Euch dabei haben!  

Aus einer Vielzahl von Bewerbungen aus dem In- und Ausland werden circa 16 Gruppen für die Teilnahme an +phat_skillz//dance nominiert. In der Jury sitzen berühmte Stars aus der HipHop-Szene, die die 3 Preisträger nach folgenden Bewertungskriterien ermitteln werden: Originalität der Choreographie, Bewegungsphantasie,Musikalität, tänzerische Qualität, Bewegungstechnik, Dynamik und Homogenität unter den Tänzern.Wenn ihr mindestens 16 Jahre alt seid und eure Choreographie für eine Gruppe von 3 bis 8 TänzerInnen ist – dann bewerbt euch!

March 2007, Theater Pfalzbau – It’s almost impossible to breathe, the crowd in the sold out hall feels the excitement and there is enthusiastic clapping as Ludwigshafen stages, for the first time, the international Streedance&HipHop Contest „+phat_skillz//dance“. These were unforgettable moments for the artists, the audience, the jury and other guests. It wasn’t just the fantastic competition. The communal Good-Bye- Party, which took place at the same time, with participants of the Modern Dance Competition, was also very memorable. Borders between dance styles, cultures, ages, countries and nationalities disappeared because of the lingua franca „Dance“. A very special East-West-North-South-World-Dance-Party! Enough reasons to do it a second time. The Theater Pfalzbau Ludwigshafen will stage, on the 3rd of May 2008, the 2nd international Streedance&HipHop Contest – and we would love to see you participating. Join the fun and excitement!

A jury will select around 16 choreographers from all the international applications for +phat_skillz//dance. The jury will comprise famous hiphop-stars who will choose the three winners. The decisive criteria for participants include: originality of the choreography, imaginative movements, musicality, quality of dance and technique, dynamism and homogeneity of the group. If you are at least 16 years old and have developed a choreography for a group of three to eight dancers, don’t hesitate—just apply.
